Have some random things in my life right now.

1. New seats. OH MAN! NEW SEATS! This has been 5+ years coming. I can’t tell you how excited I am to plant my supple frame in these hides.

Kinja'd!!!

Full leather, full front set. New pads and seat heaters!

2. You know what sound only meh unless you set them up properly? Most Bose products, but specifically the 401 series I. They need space, lots of space. I decided to hide these in the closet at the back of my den and chain them with my audio engine A5+ monitors on the desk. They. Sound. Amazing back there. solid, clear base and very warm tones.

Kinja'd!!!

They are about a foot away from each corner and 12 feet apart in a big empy cave of space.

Kinja'd!!!

3. My 6 year old is straight up fearless. She just walked off this tower without hesitation, 3 times in a row.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

They harness you up and hook you up to a decending device that they use on climbing walls that lowers you at about .5 g, but you still have to step off a 50 foot platform with slack in the line. Its scary. She would have done 4 no problem but we told her there were other things to do.

Lastly, mountain coasters are a lot of fun. I didn’t think they actually would be.

Kinja'd!!!

Also, Im in a much better mood thatn earlier in the day. but Im really sick of my coworkers and my family (sibs) right now. Seems like the whole deal did one of two things to people - made them realize how important human connects are or took away the last reasons to care about anyone but themselves. They are the later.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

100% this. Got to see my family this weekend (first time since Christmas) and played in a golf tournament with my dad and brothers. Honestly some of the most fun I’ve had in years

Those are replacement seat covers? How much? Brand?

You remind me that I used to lust of these as a penniless teen:

Land Cruiser Heaven, pricey.  Something like 780

We had a great time doing the O ppoHunt... until people started getting tired and cranky. We’ve been cooped up in this house with each other since late February. The Hunt helped, going to Texas helped more. We still need to find a way to get away from each other for a few days.

We joined a climbing gym before the pandemic and it was my first time trusting an auto-descender. On the wall, you have to fall backwards and trust it will catch you. The first few times were terrifying. It did get better, but my heart still jumped into my throat every time.

I’ve done the thing where you step off the ledge and it lowers you down. I was surprised at how difficult it was to convince my legs to just toss me over the edge.

“No highs, no lows... must be Bose!”

I should be clear that when I say family, I mean my siblings and mom not my wife and kids.

yeah I don’t love auto descenders , but I’ve learned to trust them. No imagine you haven’t been climbing and you just have to walk off a tower and there is about 3 feet of slack in the line.

Basically yeah (on both, but especially the bose).  They aren’t crystal clear, but my audio engines take up that role, these fill out the mids and lows those desktop 5 inches can’t hope to do and with more clarity than just a sub.

I think your six year old and my daughter of the same age would get along great.

I wish it had gone that way. My family all pulled into pockets of themselves and left those not willing to completely ingore the rules on the outside feeling cold.

Ooops. I read that wrong. We aren’t ready to kill each other, but we do need some time away from each other. Nobody has turned into an ass just yet, but people are getting a little touchy and alone-time is become more important. Once th e hurrican es pass, I’ll be back at the office (per leadership mandate) and that should relieve some of the pressure in the household.

I did a ropes course once and the final challenge was to climb to the top of a 20' telephone pole, stand on the 1'x 1' platform on top, then leap to a trapeze set at chest height about 4 ' away. One of the guys ahead of me missed the trapeze and learned what happens when a harness isn’t properly located and cinched tight . That’s when I vowed to not miss. I made the catch, but that leap was one of the more terrifying things I’ve done. Your daughter is truly fearless.

I hear you on the work / family thing. I am continually amazed every day at how lazy and inept my agency has become. I’m amazed at how rude people in general are. Society was being held together by a thread, apparently.

These are the things we think are for tourists only but are actually fun. I have yet to do the alpine slide or zip line tour. I have a thing for heights so the zipline is not an option for me.

I hate edges, but heights are okay.  The difference being a rope.  If I’m tied in and feel secure I’m fine.  Ziplines, rapelling, climbing etc.  If not. HEEEEELLL no.

You can feel the slight resistance though. I suppose I just never got too high with them. Or maybe I just welcome our machine overlords more than you do.

Oh, those are tons of fun. The only real scary part for me was trying to stand in top of the post knowing if I fell I'd be more likely to strike the pole before getting caught by the line.

Haha yeah I don’t mind heights but I don’t like places where you can go through. So I won’t stand on the edge of a big rock ledge on a mountain bu t I’ll walk all over a glass floor in a skyscraper. I don't even like to look out of high windows if they are open.

fun fact, you may have “high place syndrome” like me, which isn’t fear of heights or vertigo but rather a fear of doing something irrational at the precipice.

Cue Charlie Brown Christmas special gif “THAT’S IT!”

Huh, that's pretty much it to a T. It's not the height, but the fact that there is room for error.

After watching that other fellow descend upside-down in an attempt to keep the pressure off his sensitive bits, hitting the pole was the least of my concerns.

I can relate with current events bringing out the worst in family and friends.  It is sad... But sometimes the best family is the one you choose on your own.
